Beng Melea is the true adventurers temple providing an opportunity to live out your inner Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. While the temple now offers more boardwalks enabling the less adventurous to truly see the wonders of the temple, for the agile its a temple well worth exploring. Hidden dark passageways, rocks towers to climb over and towering walk ways.
What to Wear
General Information
Leave the city via Road 6 for journey through Cambodian countryside and villages with typical houses on high stilts, rice fields, cows and buffalos. Visit one of the villages where people cook sticky rice in bamboo sticks and learn about village life, glimpse of incense factory and take in some village beliefs and culture.
We then continue our trip to Bengmealea, the most picturesque ruin of all in Angkor. Climb up and down heaps of crumbling stone-piles and into temple galleries for great photo spots.
Have lunch at one of the temple’s gates.
After relaxing lunch, a visit to one of the sandstone stations where ancient Khmers quarried the stone for their religious monuments.
On the way back stop at the obscure ruin of Banteay Srey II which houses an active wat, this is your chance to get closely to Buddhism learn the monk’s way of life.
