Located 13km away south of the city of Siem Reap is one of the floating communities called, Chong Khneas. It is the home to some 8000 people including Cambodians, Chinese, Vietnamese and Chams.
For those with limited time this is an ideal way to see the lake as its location is close to town.
What to Wear
General Information
You are transport by our experienced guide and driver with great English to this floating community. Arriving at the lake you will walk through one of the villages of Chong Khneas. It is the opportunity to capture some amazing photos of stilted homes, floating kindergarten, elementary, primary, secondary schools and hospital. After that, take the boat trip to the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese floating villages and then the Great Lake Tonle Sap.
On the way back, stop at Wat Atvea temple, which’s believed to be model to Angkor Wat as it, too, faces west.

Located around 16 km from Siem Reap, on the flood plains of the Tonle Sap is the village of Kompong Phhluk. For those with enough time this is an absolute must see!
Homes tower on stilts, some 10 meters high in dry season, while in the wet water laps at the floor boards. Fewer toursits make it out here making it an ideal place to visit for those wishing to escape the tourist path. If you are short on time The Great Lake tour may be better, but for those with time available this is a must visit!
