Responsible Tourism Initiative

A Parternship Between Tourists and Tour Operators

Every Visitor Makes a Difference.   Why Not Make Yours a Positive One.

Travelling is an amazing opportunity to experience new places, learn about different cultures & find out more about yourself. Whether you a travelling to simply get away and relax or planning the adventure of a life time, you can make simple decisions about your trip that make a huge difference to the people and places you visit.

At Beyond we believe we have a responsiility and a very important role to play in helping ensure that local people gain benefits from the visitors that come to Cambodia.

The Responsible Tourism Initiative RTI
Put simply RTI works to help share the benefits of tourism directly with local Cambodian families.  Every single Beyond Tour donates a percentage of profits to HUSK www.huskcambodia.org  but the Responsible Tourism Initiative is more than this.

Beyond offers a range of tours that carry our RTI logo, these experiences directly work with local Cambodian families and provide ongoing benefits to them.  It connects visitors directly with local people in a respectful and meaningful way.

Day in a Life - An Example at Work
- Day in a Life works with Type 1 families in a rural village.  A type 1 family has no savings, little earning capacity and often miss meals.
- Every tour works with one host family who receive a payment for hosting you and lunch as part of the tour
- Work is undertaken at the families home that directly helps them & is wanted by the family
- In addition to the family payment money is set aside according to the number of people on the tour for village projects

To date this project has provided small pig farms, vegetable gardens, hundreds of fruit trees, water wells, water pull pumps, rice seedlings, and house rebuilds across the village.
