Sambor Prei Kuk is home to over 200 temple ruins set in lush forests. It is an area rich in history and traditional crafts. Still today the craftsman practice the age old traditions of craft making using rattan and bamboo. The temples pre date the Angkorian empire and are constructed using perfectly laid bricks and intricate carvings and lintels.
In this overnight extension from Siem Reap we explore the temples on foot visiting some of the best sites within the groups of temples. Our tour supports the Isanborei Project using local guides to bring the history of this area to life. We also visit some of the other attractions within the local area, including local silk farm and weaving, rice noodle making and stone sculptors. For the very energetic you may also wish to include the climb the 800 steps up Santuk Mountain to be rewarded with sweeping views of the area, impressive stone reliefs and amazing shrines.
